Day 2: On the Road OK-AZ

*Oklahoma-Texas-New Mexico-Arizona*

Started my day with a fabulous breakfast, waffle with blueberries and a banana, at the hotel.  I’m so used to eating cereal or oatmeal, anything different seems tasty.

Second day of driving went well.  We began in Stillwater, Oklahoma around 6:30am (central time) and finally arrived in Holbrook, Arizona around 7:30pm (Pacific time).

We made several stops along the way; when we crossed boarders and lunch and potty breaks.

I was amazed how little civilization we saw, I know everyone tells you, but you don’t believe it til you see it.  You just drive hundreds of miles with only a few gas stations and some quick foodie places.

We are getting to the beautiful west though, which we’ve enjoyed the sights along the road! I definitely think I’d like to come back to Arizona and visit for longer for hiking and more of the National Forests.

Just one more day!
Goodnight Arizona!

Day 1: On the Road ATL to OK

September 13, 2012

Day 1: On the Road.

ENTERING MISSISSIPPI!

All in a days time (well 13 hours to be exact)… Started in Atlanta, drove through Alabama, cut across Mississippi, dashed through the corner of Tennessee near Memphis, then headed north through Arkansas and into Oklahoma, arriving in our nights destination of Stillwater, OK.

HEADING INTO ARKANSAS

It’s amazing all the weather we’ve encountered within a day.  We started in out in the cool Atlanta fall morning, we encountered some rain in Arkansas, then back to hot and sunny up to 87.  During our last stretch into Stillwater it began to rain again.

We both packed a lunch for the first day, and this helped us save on time: here’s my Adult version of a lunch-able 🙂

There’s nothing too exciting in this area, but our hotel is quite nice.  Koli’s been good on the ride, sleeping about 90% of the time, when she’s not chewing on bones or taking potty breaks.

Upon arrival, Dad and I were both tired, so we opted for a frozen microwave dinner over a restaurant.  Our hotel is equipped with a kitchen, making it feel more like home.  So we can relax while we eat, and I can of course blog, and he can watch the weather channel and news.

Tomorrow will be another long day, but not quite as far, we’re aiming to make it to Holbrook, Arizona.  If we’re lucky, like today We’re hoping to make good time again, and then Saturday we’ll be in Los Angeles!!
